NATIONAL TRUST FRIENDS OF ERDDIG
Firstly, we would like to thank all the National Trust members who have been in touch to express their opposition to the Trust’s plan to develop at Erddig, it has been very encouraging to get such a good response. Your contribution is going to make a massive difference, we are definately on schedule now to making a difference at the next Annual General Meeting(AGM). If you know of other National Trust members who would like to support the campaign please ask them to get in touch!
During the process of this campaign we have spoken to over 400 National Trust members. They have told us that they have not been consulted and that they have not been in any way involved the Trust’s decision to become property developers, which is obviously a major shift in policy. All of those members stated categorically that they are against not only this development but other similar developments by the Trust. They are also embarrassed and angry that they are part of the organisation that is doing this.
When we first started talking toTrust members we asked them to leave the organisation, we know that many did or confirmed that they would not be renewing their membership. We are now asking members to stay and to challenge the decision to develop at Erddig from within the Trust itself. Members intend to do this by proposing a motion at the next Annual General Meeting to vote out those responsible for this decision. We will be publishing the details about who has approved these plans in the near future.
